The European Peatlands Initiative (EPI) brings together governments, public authorities, researchers, non-governmental organisations, landowners, businesses and other organisations to conserve, restore and sustainable manage peatlands across Europe.
By becoming a member, your organisation joins a growing European network committed to sharing knowledge, strengthening cooperation and accelerating action to protect and restore one of our most valuable natural ecosystems against climate change.

Membership is open to all organisations that support the vision and mission of the EPI, including:
- National and regional governments and agencies
- European Commission agencies
- National and regional initiatives
- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
- Farmer and landowner organisations
- Research institutions and universities
- Companies, networks and other organisations working on peatland-related issues

What does membership involve?
The EPI is built on collaboration. Members are encouraged to contribute in ways that reflect their expertise, capacity and interests. All members are asked to endorse the EPI Membership Pledge.
As an EPI member, your organisation commits to:
- Support the EPI’s vision, mission and guiding principles
- Share knowledge and expertise in an open and collaborative way
- Participate in EPI activities where relevant, such as meetings, working groups and discussions
- Coordinate with other members and the EPI Secretariat to maximise synergies and avoid duplication
- Promote EPI activities and outputs through your own networks
- Explore and leverage opportunities to mobilise funding for EPI activities
Members are not expected to participate in every activity. Rather, each organisation contributes where it can have the greatest impact, helping to build a stronger and more effective European peatland community.

Joining the EPI is straightforward:
- Complete the membership application form below.
- Your application will be shared with existing members as part of the EPI’s membership process.
- If no objections are raised, your organisation will officially join the EPI.
