We’re thrilled to kick-off the brand-new European Peatlands Initiative (EPI): a Community Platform, your go-to space for all things peatlands across Europe! Created under the EUKI project “Building the European Peatlands Initiative: A Strong Alliance for Peatland Climate Protection in Europe”, this platform has been developed in close partnership with Eurosite – the European Land Conservation Network, CEEweb for Biodiversity, the Michael Succow Foundation (partners in the Greifswald Mire Centre) and, European Landowner’s Organization (ELO).

The EPI is your community platform for stronger European peatland cooperation, connecting different stakeholders working on peatlands, such as practitioners, researchers, policymakers, financiers, and innovators from every corner of Europe. Here, you can swap knowledge, showcase best practices, spark game-changing collaborations, and accelerate the restoration and protection of our precious peatlands.

This Community provides dedicated channels that address key thematic areas of peatland work:

  • Peatland Restoration & Management: Share your hands-on experiences, methods, and inspiring case studies.
  • Peatland Research & Monitoring: Explore cutting-edge science and innovative monitoring techniques.
  • Peatland Policy: Stay ahead with insights on European and national policy developments.
  • Peatland Finance: Discover funding opportunities, investment models, and financial incentives that support the restoration and sustainable use of peatlands.
  • Peatland Innovation: Promote forward-thinking solutions and breakthrough technologies.

Ready to make a real impact? We warmly invite all peatland professionals and stakeholders to jump in and be part of this exciting community. Together, we can promote integrated action and secure the future of Europe’s peatlands .
